The CBS C-594 Reel Winder has been designed to provide a safe winding of pilot wire or conductor when employed with a suitable Puller.
The Reel Winder is powered by a 3-cylinder diesel engine driving the hydraulic pump. The hydraulic variable displacement pump drives the fixed displacement motor, which in turn drives the drum shaft via a reduction gearbox. The drum output shaft provides simple and easy removal of the drum when necessary.
Hydraulic valves control the drum direction and drum lift. The unit can provide a pre-set tension for controlled pulling in operations and is fitted with a spring applied holding brake. A drum raising and lowering facility makes for easier drum handling. The hydraulic circuits are fitted with overload relief valves, and control valves fail-safe in neutral position (deadmans handle) for operator safety.
The hydraulic tank and filters are mounted on a sturdy chassis, which is fitted with axles, hydraulic braking, parking brake and wheels suitable for towing with a tractor. The chassis is fitted with a forged towing eye. The reel Winder is for site (no public road going) use only, with a maximum speed of 15 mph (25 kph), it’s fitted with front and rear marker lights only to indicate presence at night or low visibility conditions.
